Manawatū Cricket Association – General Manager

Lead cricket in the Manawatū and continue the 125 year history of the Association.

The Manawatū Cricket Association (MCA) seeks a proven leader with:

  • Demonstrable business acumen and a proven record of delivering on strategic objectives and managing budgets.

  • Experience of managing and developing staff.

  • A proven ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


About the Role:
Based in Palmerston North, you will lead MCA and manage the operations to deliver the strategic objectives set by the Board. This is a fantastic opportunity to continue the legacy and shape the future of New Zealand’s premier summer sport in the Manawatū and beyond. While full-time, this role offers flexible working hours to best support MCA activities and events, and includes occasional evening and weekend commitments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the MCA team

  • Driving the implementation of the MCA strategic plan

  • Ensuring financial sustainability and growth

  • Building and maintaining constructive relationships with MCA partners and the cricket community

  • Hosting events and tournaments

  • Managing resources and facilities

About You:

  • Proven senior leadership and operational management experience within sport, recreation or business.

  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision, training, mentoring and performance management of staff.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and managing projects. 

  • Proven experience in managing budgets and securing funding. 

  • A confident, clear, and approachable communicator who works well with people from across the cricket community.
