Girls Cricket
The MCA is extremely keen to both grow the female game and also provide an enjoyable environment for girls to get involved in cricket. It forms a major part of our development programme and we have come up with a girls-only cricket pathway to ensure that girls can get started in cricket at any age group. You can see the female pathway by clicking on the link below:

A summary of the cricketing options for girls within that pathway is provided below:
Superstar Cricket Academy
The Superstar Cricket Academy (SCA) is for girls aged between 5-8. It is an 8-week introductory skill-based programme that provides participants with the basics of batting, bowling and fielding. Run by the MCA Girls Club, the SCA programme allows girls to build their confidence in the sport by using softer balls and plastic equipment to take away that fear factor associated with cricket. In a girls-only environment taken by female instructors, the SCA programme participants develop quite quickly and can progress onto organised games. The SCA programme is run mid-week at Ongley Park between February and March with a cost of $40.

Year 4/5/6 and Year 7/8 Competitions
We have set up a junior club called MCA Girls where girls have the opportunity to register to play in girls-only teams. They play in the normal junior cricket grades against the boys but we match their ability up with their grade. The girls we have had in these teams over the last few years have really enjoyed the chance to play in female teams as opposed to joining in with the boys.
A reminder that the MCA Girls Club is a club like any other and relies on enthusiastic members of the public for coaching and managing. These girls thrive under female coaching and we are on the hunt for interested ladies. Full training and support will be given to anyone willing to put their hand up.
There are three grades your daughter can play in when they sign up for the MCA Girls Club, these are:
Dual Pitch - Tuesday Ongley Park 4:45pm - 6:00pm
Incredi-Ball - Training on Friday afternoons 3:30pm - 4:30pm with games on Saturday mornings from 8 am - 11:30 am
Hardball - Training on Friday afternoons 3:30pm - 4:30pm with games on Saturday mornings from 8am - 11:30am

Primary & Intermediate Festival Days
Run through the Schools, the Primary & Intermediate festival days provide girls with an opportunity to give cricket a go alongside their peers. The great thing about the festival days is the girls get to play four or five games in a day meaning they get ample opportunity to hit a four, take a catch or contribute towards a win. The games only take 30 minutes so they are not left standing around for long periods of time. The MCA will provide coaches for the day that umpire the games and give the girls some coaching throughout the day to help upskill them at the same time.
Intermediate Skills Challenge
Once again the Skills Challenge is run through the schools (normally in class groups). The skills challenge is six sessions long and runs the participants through batting, bowling and fielding. The sixth lesson of the programme is a testing day where everyone takes part in a series of tasks which provides them with an overall score and ultimately a Gold, Silver or Bronze certificate.
