The MCA ran a successful Winter Holiday Programme based on small group coaching with a focus on SKILLS, SKILLS, SKILLS.

The offseason is an ideal time to work on technique and the MCA used the July school holidays to provide Year 6 - 13 cricketers with that opportunity. Broken down to Secondary Schools in week 1 and Primary Schools in week 2, over 100 cricketers registered to improve their cricket.

The small group programme was designed and led by MCA Director of Cricket, Dilan Raj, and had specialist coaches leading the groups.

Coaches included NZ Specialist Coaches:

  • Jacob Oram who ran a fielding and throwing session on the latest technique
  • White Ferns Hannah Rowe and Jessica Watkin
  • Stags players Dane Cleaver, Bevan Small, Ma'ara Ave, Ray Toole
  • Hinds player Mikaela Greig
  • MCA coaching staff Lachie Bradford, Vili Vakapuna, Warren Herbert, Cole Freeman and Brad Fulton.

Each cricketer was able to spend quality time with their respective coaches checking their technique and identifying winter work-ons and solutions.

These clinics were part of the overall programme that includes the Winter Cricket School that provides small group coaching in a fun and learning-rich environment leading into our revamped Summer Programme.
